Brainerd Lakes Surgery Center has an opening for a .8 to full time Surgical Technologist.

Hourly Wage Range: $22.93-$34.40

Under the supervision of an RN, the Surgical Technologists participates as a member of the surgical team supporting and taking direction from the surgeon, physician assistants and RN. The Technologist is responsible for draping the surgical suite in accordance with standards; ensures the functionality of instrumentation and equipment required for each operative procedure.

The Technologist effectively hands instruments, needles, sponges and equipment, anticipating the surgeon(s) needs and ensuring patient safety and sterile technique at all times. They may be required to provide direct and indirect perioperative tasks, including holding retractors, cameras, and suction under the direct supervision of the surgeon.

 In addition, the Surgical Technologist shall assist in the decontamination of instruments and equipment, room turnover, sterilization of instrumentation and restocking of supplies in accordance with the standards and departmental policy. 

Education and Experience: Diploma from an accredited Surgical Technologist Program; or 1+ years of surgical scrub experience is preferred 

Special Skills and Aptitudes: Independently prepares cases in the sterile field in the surgical suite. 

Ensures the functionality of instrumentation and equipment in accordance with all standards and departmental policy. 

Effectively supports the surgeon(s) by safely handing instrumentation, supplies and equipment, anticipating needs of the team. 

Completes room turnover, assists as needed in decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation and restocking of supplies 

Responsibilities: Actively supports department initiatives to promote efficient and safe patient flow utilizing teamwork and taking individual accountability to complete duties as a means of ensuring on time starts to maintain the OR schedule. 

Demonstrate initiatives and teamwork by restocking supplies, instrumentation and assisting where needed. Demonstrate a willingness to help when other duties are assigned.

You can take acetaminophen and products that contain it. They do not affect your platelets and will not increas your chance of bleeding. Do not take more than 4 grams in one day: very high doses can cause liver damage.
